The Royal British Legion Bielefeld was founded by George Simpson with the first meeting in 1992 held in the old Rochdale Bks. About 20 people showed up for this meeting and it grew from there to become one of the biggest branches in Germany. The first function was held in April 1993 and was a huge success. Other meetings were held in Reeth Bks with a regular games night being included. Eventually the RBL Bielefeld co-located with the S+A Club and we stayed in Catterick Bks for about two years. Unfortunately the contract ran out and the RBL Bielefeld was desperate to find new premises. It was a hard and long struggle to find an appropriate location. It was with sheer guts and termination of the people to keep the Legion running even without premises. Letters were sent to the members, keeping them informed about the situation regarding the new premises.

The branch then found new premises in what is now called Rochdale Bks (former Mossbank). The branch moved first into the SGT Mess and stayed there until 1998 and were then given its current location: the old Naafi bar in Rochdale Bks.

The highlight of the branches achievements was in the year 2000, when the RBL Bielefeld hosted the District Conference in the Rathaus in Bielefeld and a march through the town.
